Experience your Food

You've stood at a farmers market stall staring at a pile of chanterelles. Golden, earthy. A little wild and kinda fun. And you walked away, not because you didn't want them, but because you didn't know what to do with them that would be worth the purchase.

That's exactly where I want to meet you.

Slone's Kitchen is about the ingredients that have been living right under your nose: that unfamiliar veggie at the market, or the seafood sitting behind the glass at the fish counter, and the meals they're whispering to become.

I'm Sara Slone, a self-taught cook who spent years dreaming up recipes as I drifted to sleep, feeding anyone who'd sit down – guests on private yachts, friends, friends of friends, family. What I’ve learned and continue to discover isn't just technique; it’s that the most memorable meals aren't defined as the most complicated ones. They're the ones that make a table fall silent… except to tell me to stop talking so they can exist in the confines of peace during the first bite.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we're surrounded by some of the most extraordinary ingredients in the world. Most of us walk past them every day. I want to change that. One unfamiliar thing at a time. An ingredient, an approach, a way of seeing what's already around you.

Whether it's a mushroom you've never cooked, a fish you've always been afraid of, or a dish that finally makes you feel well-acquainted with the place you live, this is where you learn to create. Slone's Kitchen is where Pacific Northwest food comes alive: the seasonal, the local, the things you've seen a hundred times and never quite known what to do with. The chanterelles are calling.
